Authors: Dimelli, Despina
Description:
Abstract:
The spatial planning system is a key factor for urban resilience as it defines permitted uses, urban density, urban mobility, and public space. It also defines the framework and procedures for citizens' participation in urban planning. In the last chapter of the book, the system of spatial planning in Greece today and the levels that have been defined are initially examined. In the following section, the possibilities that spatial planning provides for the development of resilient cities for each planning level, are analyzed. The next section of the chapter analyzes the new framework for land uses, urban mobility plans, and urban regeneration. The section aims to analyze the spatial planning frameworks in Greece and to investigate the strengths that they provide and the weaknesses that they present, to promote urban resilience in Greek cities.
