Smart technologies are increasingly developed in the urban space and integrated into many urban planning functions. Most of the cities today, some with faster and others with slower rates, integrate into many areas smart applications that aim to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants. This chapter analyzes the role of new technologies in the cities' function and their contribution to urban resilience achievement. Smart technologies applications are analyzed in the sectors of public spaces function, urban mobility, and urban governance to analyze the use of smart applications in the framework of urban resilience. Emphasis is given to the applications that have been developed to deal with the phenomena of climate change and to inform citizens, as well as on the role of smart applications to achieve social resilience. Finally, case studies of cities, in which integrated smart application systems have been developed, are presented.
