Abstract:
In this chapter, the concept of resilience is initially analyzed, as it has been described in different sciences. Then, the concept of urban resilience, its main characteristics, and the way it has been integrated into spatial planning are examined. Finally, the author analyzes the policies for urban resilience that have been developed by global organizations and agencies to develop urban areas able to respond to the ever-increasing pressures resulting from phenomena such as climate change, economic crisis, and social segregation.
