Description: | |
Abstract: |
The chapter deals with the economic dimension of cybercrime, i.e., cybercrimes which aim at, either direct or indirect, financial gain. The immediate financial gain focuses on cyber fraud and financial crime, both in its organized and unorganized form. The indirect form of financial gain from cybercrime focuses on data breaches and identity theft. All forms are defined and analyzed in terms of how they manifest. The chapter concludes with the ways of dealing with economic cybercrime both by the individual and social institutions.
