Abstract:
This Chapter focuses on one of the basic components of the architectural structure of the so-called Web 3.0, Decentralized Applications (DApps). Thus, after an introduction to what Web 3.0 is, the structure of a Decentralized Application (DApp) and its special characteristics, compared to existing (centralized) applications, are presented in detail. With an emphasis on the Ethereum platform, an analysis is made of the technologies that are combined to create a modern DApp, describing what each technology offers, as well as a presentation of alternative solutions. Finally, a reference to the websites that host DApps applications is provided along with discussion about some DApps that have gained significant popularity.
