Introduction to lean management – The Kanban method
Authors: Fitsilis, Panos
Description:
Abstract:
The fifth chapter presents the concept of lean management and the Kanban system. Lean management is a production system that aims to reduce unnecessary activities, reduce waste that takes place in production processes, and reduce production costs while increasing flexibility. In lean management, we focus only on value-generating activities, the smooth flow of materials without intermediate storage, the control of production through pull systems and the constant search for perfection through a philosophy of continuous improvement. Also, the Kanban method will be presented, which is a collection of good practices and is based on the visualization of the workflow that are pending, processed or completed in order to organize the work more efficiently.
