Introduction to Recommender Systems
Authors: Symeonidis, Panagiotis
Description:
Abstract:
In the first chapter we will detail the objectives of recommender systems taking into account the wide range of stakeholders interested in either offering them as a service (e.g. businesses, organisations etc.), or simply using them (users). We will also proceed to a categorisation of the systems that are systems on the basis of the objectives they serve (e.g. collaborative filtering systems, interactive recommender systems, hybrid systems etc.). Finally, we will categorise recommendation algorithms on the basis of the scientific field from which they originate (e.g. mining data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence etc.).
