| Abstract: |
This chapter describes the basic principles of housing and care of laboratory animals. It provides information on the infrastructure of facilities for housing and use of laboratory animals, the micro- and macro-environment conditions, hygiene conditions (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization) of the facilities as well as food and water supply to the animals. Finally, it presents tables regarding the minimum requirements for housing of various laboratory animal species defined by the national legislation.
