Description:
Abstract:
The book "Socialization. The contribution of socialization to social man’s formation" focuses on socialization as a process very essential for man, from his already embryonic state, for the formation and development of his personality. It is the process through which man becomes human, that is he acquires and develops qualities that determine his human existence. This book contributes to the understanding of the human social personality and how it is shaped through various factors and actors, such as heredity and the social environment in which man develops. The social environment includes the family with its influences, such as social origin, educational level, the position of the individual within the family, cultural level, economic level, place of residence, language used by the family, spiritual atmosphere etc., but also the school with the social climate of the classroom, the socialization of the teacher, the curriculum, the friendships and social networks with their culture (knowledge, attitudes, values, skills, etc.), the subculture or counterculture they adopt and promote etc. However, a general mapping of the field is attempted in terms of the various socialization agents, as this study focuses to the basic socialization agents, the family and the school. At the same time, we try to examine socialization with reference to social and global problems, such as the issue of education and global knowledge in modern society, the ecological disaster, the new inequalities arising from the development of Information and Communication Technology and the digital divide, the issue of violence and aggression at school, as examples of the influence of social conditions on the socialization of the young individual.
