| Abstract: |
An alternative approach to the theory of algebraic curves is given using function fields of one variable. The classical theorems of Riemann-Hurwitz, Riemann-Roch and Abel-Jacobi are expressed in this language. Weierstrass points and their relationship with projective embeddings are introduced.
