This chapter examines compounds that are thought to result from the use of isoprene (terpenes) as well as chemically modified terpenes (terpenoids). Many essential oils also belong to this category. Some of the examined compounds of the chapter are used as food additives, as insect repellents, as basic ingredients in perfumery and medicine for their therapeutic action. The relevant bibliography is listed at the end of the chapter.
