This chapter discusses and analyzes concepts related to natural products. There is a historical review of their use by humans of natural products for treatment from the beginning and the value of natural products as medicines is documented. Sources of natural products are mentioned and a comparison is made between synthetics and medicines of natural origin. At the end, the literature related to what is mentioned in the chapter is listed.
