Abstract: |
In this chapter, the term geo-visualization is explained through definitions and the techniques used to render 3D geographic space on 2D paper or computer screen are mentioned. The Chapter focuses on the use of cartographic techniques for the visual rendering of different types of geographic data. These techniques are mainly based on the use of visual variables, symbols and diagrams. It also presents the methods of graphical representation of geospatial data, which are mainly maps, analyzes the different types of maps, symbols and visual variables that best represent the different types of geospatial data, and discusses the optimal methods of visualizing spatial queries such as: show me the service areas of a school district, etc. Finally, modern geo-visualisation technologies such as dynamic maps, interactive 3D digital visualisations, etc. are mentioned.
