Description:
Abstract:
This chapter describes how spatial analysis through a set of methods and techniques studies geographic data to draw conclusions about their structure, distribution and correlation. Basic spatial analysis operators based on the analytical tools of a GIS are presented. These use the structure of the geospatial database to provide answers to questions posed by the user or the machine such as spatial operations between thematic layers, zones of influence, network analysis, area analysis, spatial distribution analysis of phenomena, relief analysis, similarity-based spatial clustering, calculation of geostatistical indices, etc.
