Abstract:
The film of synthetic images, which until now we have considered as a final product, as a linear construction of different perspectives, can also be considered as an "unfinished product that is a starting point for the participation of the viewer, that is, as [a] participatory process". The viewer is no longer invited to participate in the film with sight and hearing, but is obliged to participate physically with gesture, i.e. with movement. The categories of physical participation differ, depending on the applications of interactive computer cinematography. The interactivity between viewer and film, made possible by the IT techniques mentioned above, renews interest around the issue of viewer participation. Whatever the role or status of the viewer, any interactive film, in order to exist, needs their participation.
