Description:
Abstract:
In this introductory chapter, a detailed reference is made to the fundamental physical quantity of electromagnetism, the electric charge. The types, as well as the basic principles of conservation and quantization of electric charge, are described. Then the methods of electrical charging of bodies and their categorization into conductors, insulators and semiconductors are mentioned. Next, the study of the interactions between point charges follows, with the definition of the electric force through Coulomb's law. Finally, the electrostatic forces are studied for some cases of macroscopic electric charges.
