| Abstract: |
This chapter introduces the reader to the purely experimental aspect of computational stylistics. It describes the basic methodology for investigating texts of disputed authorship, which includes developing an appropriate corpus, measuring the relevant stylometric features, training a suitable statistical algorithm, and evaluating the achieved machine learning performance. The specific case where the disputed text comes from two potential authors is examined, and the use of logistic regression as a machine learning algorithm is introduced.
