Description:
Abstract:
The aim of Chapter 4 is to describe in detail the basic methods and algorithms for answering queries on semantic data. In this context, we first describe the process of assigning formal semantics to data by linking them to ontological descriptions of the domain. Then, the key technologies used to formulate queries in terms of ontological knowledge and answer them using reasoning systems are discussed. At this point, after formulating the problem as a problem of extracting implicit knowledge (reasoning), both techniques based on query rewriting and those based on database expansion are presented.
