Description:
Abstract:
A typical application of the momentum equation is considered, the impact of a water jet on a solid surface. Two cases are examined: in the first case the surface remains stationary, and the impact force is investigated. In the second case, the jet impact causes movement of the surface which is part of a rotating mechanism, and the generated mechanical power is investigated. Experimental results are compared with corresponding theoretical ones coming from the momentum equation.
