Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, basic techniques for applying group theory in chemistry are presented. These include the manipulation of character representations of point groups using various bases, the use of character tables containing basic symmetry patterns (BSPs) with complex characters, the reduction of a reducible character representation into a sum of irreducible ones, and finding the character representation of the direct product of two or more BSPs.
