Authors: Parcharidis, Isaak
Reviewer: Nikolakopoulos, Konstantinos
Description:
Abstract:
Beyond the conceptual framework of remote sensing, this chapter includes a general presentation of the electromagnetic spectrum, with a detailed description of the visible, infrared, and microwave portions of the EM spectrum, as well as the terminology used for measuring radiation. It also covers the interaction of radiation with the Earth’s atmosphere and surface, including references to types of reflection and absorption. The definition of atmospheric windows is provided, along with the concept of spectral signatures and spectral bands.
