Description:
Abstract:
This chapter presents the Annales School, the proposals of its members for solving key problems in contemporary historiography, the innovations they introduced, and the evolution of the school along with its global impact. By studying this chapter, readers will understand, among other things, that history (like perhaps most sciences) continues to evolve and needs to continually update its scientific "equipment." They will also recognize the importance of its collaboration with other sciences. At the same time, readers of this chapter will become familiar with various terms and concepts frequently used in the humanities and social sciences, such as mentalities, structures and superstructures, long duration (longue durée), and more.
