Description:
Abstract:
General Medicine (General Practice or Family Medicine) is a medical speciality with a long history in advanced countries but relatively recent in Greece. From the Declaration of Alma-Ata (1978) on Primary Health Care (PHC) until 2008 and the framework proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), various health systems were based on PHC, and developed in all countries. The Family Medicine / General Practice (FM/GP) in PHC by providing comprehensive, continuous care in the community, and person-centred, forms the basis for providing better health services to citizens. The development of the PHC in Greece lags behind countries that have health systems in which the cornerstone is the PHC.
