Description:
Abstract:
The chapter “History of Tennis” describes the sport's historical evolution at both global and national levels. In both cases, the sport’s development is presented extensively and divided into historical periods based on each period's most important events and characteristics. Emphasis is also placed on Olympic history, as tennis was one of the nine sports in the 1st Modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896. The preparations for this event marked the first organized steps of the sport in Greece.
