Description:
Abstract:
Bleeding tendency can be the result of disorders that affect (a) the vessels, (b) platelet function, (c) platelet number and (d) the coagulation cascade .The disorders of platelet function can be heritable (i.e Glanzamman, Bernard Soulier) or acquired (i.e uremia, paraproteinaimia, antiplatelet drugs.) with the latter being more common. The main causes of thrombocytopenia are either a)decreased production in the bone marrow or b)increased destruction in peripheral blood ( hypersplenism, DIC, TTP, ITP).Coagulation factors deficiencies can either aquired or hereditary (Hemophilia A, Hemophilia B, von Willebrand disease). vWD is the most common inherited blood clotting disorder.
