Variables and expressions
Authors: Manis, Georgios

Description:
Abstract:
This chapter introduces the concept of constant and variable. The various types of variables as they exist in different programming languages are introduced, and the contrast with the simplicity of the Python language, which bypasses the need for variable types, is emphasized. It is then shown how variables and constants can be combined into expressions and how we can store their results back into variables. The difference between assignment and equality is discussed to fully understand the concept of expression evaluation and assignment which is completely new to them as an operation. Finally, although tables could be studied in a later chapter, the concept of a table is also presented, since it facilitates the understanding of concepts such as the iteration structure that will precede the chapter on more complex data structures.
