Description:
Abstract:
Chapter 3 "Spatial Entities Digitization" presents the methods concerning the digital recording of spatial entities derived from analog sources. These methods include manual digitization, scanning, and automatic and semi-automatic vectorization. The appropriate method is selected based on both the content of the analog source and the type of entities. Although digitization is a time-consuming and labor-intensive process, it is significant because it provides the necessary elements for map composition that will become part of the database. The result is stored in the database according to the structure that resulted from the database design and in the coordinate system defined during the georeference phase.
