Optimal Operation and Development of Distribution Systems
Authors: Georgilakis, Pavlos
Reviewer: Stavrakakis, Georgios
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter covers actions and methods for the optimal operation and development of the distribution system. Two methods for reducing distribution system losses are presented: optimal placement of shunt capacitors and optimal reconfiguration (optimal topology) of the distribution system using switches. Six alternative programs for charging electricity consumption are introduced. The technologies of smart distribution systems are presented, along with the fundamental principles of smart distribution system management. The problem of optimal development of the distribution system is formulated. The basic principles for the design and development of smart distribution systems are also presented.
