Optimal Operation and Development of Transmission Systems
Authors: Georgilakis, Pavlos
Reviewer: Stavrakakis, Georgios
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter covers actions and methods for the optimal operation and development of the transmission system. Particular emphasis is placed on methods for correcting transmission system problems. Initially, the transmission system state is classified according to its security level, and the corresponding operational actions are determined. Next, disturbance analysis is explained, which identifies the system’s security level. Then, the optimal power flow problem is formulated and solved, which, combined with disturbance analysis, forms the basis for the optimal operation and development of the system. Important system issues are presented, such as transmission system charging, placement of phasor measurement units, and planning the development of the transmission system.
