Description:
Abstract:
This chapter provides complete laboratory exercises, based on commercially available equipment, aimed at building understanding of the previous chapters of the book. Indicative examples of laboratory exercises: motion and friction forces, Hooke’s law, simple pendulum, superposition of oscillations, free fall, standing waves in a string, standing waves in a spring and metal sheets. For each laboratory exercise its purpose is clearly given, and a brief presentation of the relevant theory is also given (with necessary references to paragraphs in the book). The required measuring instruments and materials, the experimental procedure and the comprehensive recording of results with the help of specially designed tables, as well as the way to analyze the results and questions designed to check understanding, are also given.
