Abstract:
By the term "agricultural mechanical equipment", we primarily mean agricultural tractors, which are the most basic machine in the mechanization of agriculture, as well as all other self-propelled and accessory agricultural machinery. Also, we mean all complex machines for the production or processing of products, conveyor belts, lifting cranes, large fans used in agricultural facilities and which have as functional parts, electric motors, power transmission systems, drive belts and a host of other structural elements. One of the main problems faced by farmers is the relatively large expenditure required for the repair and maintenance of their agricultural machinery. In this chapter, emphasis is placed on the application of advanced methods of fault diagnosis with which we can achieve smooth operation and prolong the lifetime of the machines, avoid sudden catastrophic failures, reduce the downtime of the machines and improve the quality of the produced products. This chapter concludes with the presentation of the on-board diagnostic systems that all modern agricultural tractors are equipped.
