Description:
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on elimination reactions, with emphasis on β-eliminations, specifically the E1 and E2 mechanisms, and the parameters related to them. It also describes certain special categories of β-eliminations, such as the E1cb and Ei mechanisms, and mentions α- and δ-eliminations. At the end, a systematic study of the competition between nucleophilic aliphatic substitution and elimination mechanisms is provided, along with a concise guide for substitution and elimination reactions in haloalkanes.
