Description:
Abstract:
The purpose of Chapter 3 is to provide an overview of the key ideas on the role of small businesses in growth. The chapter begins with an overview of the changing significance of Micro and Small Businesses. Next, it presents the current discussions on the relationship between space and MSEs and the emergence of entrepreneurship as a privileged mechanism that facilitates growth in the relevant policies developed from the ‘80s until today. Finally, a specific reference to the role of entrepreneurship on the two main spatial categories, urban centres, and rural areas is made.
