Description:
Abstract:
In the chapter titled “The Difference Between Psychoanalysis and Psychobiology” we will focus on the differences between the theories of Sigmund Freud and Magnus Hirschfeld. We will also explore how the distinction between psychoanalytic and psychobiological approaches has contributed to a colonial and patriarchal discourse around the gender binary. Additionally, we will examine how this narrative led to the creation of international organizations dedicated to the study of (natural) gender and sexuality. Finally, we will investigate the relationship between criminology and forensics and their respective claims that the primary cause of pathology is a type that is inherently, morally, and psychologically female and originates from “inferior” classes and races, suggesting a particular (human) nature.
