Description:
Abstract:
The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize students with the BeagleBoard-xM Single Board Computer (SBC) that carries an ARM processor, as well as with the OpenCV open-source library. In this laboratory exercise, after installing the Ubuntu operating system on the SD card, colors of objects passing in real-time will be recognized through a web camera using OpenCV. The objects will pass against a neutral background, and their total number will be counted and displayed on the screen by the BeagleBoard. The application will be customizable in terms of the range of each color (e.g., red does not have only one RGB value, and thus it should accept a range, e.g., from 200 to 255 etc.).
