In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the concept of pointers. Initially, the definition and characteristics of pointers are provided, along with their declaration and methods of assignment. Next, the manipulation of variables and arrays using pointers is examined. The following section addresses the issues of function call by reference and functions with pointer return type. Then, implementations of string functions using pointers are described. The chapter concludes with the concepts of command-line arguments and pointers in functions.
