Abstract:
The use of the personal computer in music creation began in the early 1980s and experienced rapid development until the late 1990s. During this period a multitude of applications and technologies for music creation were developed, which became readily accessible to the general public. Among them are MIDI technology, sound editing applications, compositional environments as well as a few new programming languages for music composition.
