Description:
Abstract:
Machine learning is a scientific field that includes adaptive methods, which in turn allow the training of computing systems based on human experience, some known examples (e.g. from experiments or observation), as well as the concept of proportionality. One approach to machine learning is so-called artificial neural networks. In this book, the classic theory of multi-layer neural networks trained with the back-propagation of errors method is presented in detail. Evidence is also given for the application of artificial intelligence in control, while an extension to the use of deep learning techniques is also made. Information is also provided on unsupervised learning and training techniques, such as Hebb's algorithm and Kohonen networks, and some introductory information is given on training artificial neural networks using engineering equations (PINNs method). The concept of Bayesian learning, decision trees and random forests, as well as support vector machines (SVMs) are introduced. Finally, some applications of artificial intelligence are given, while a brief description of the so-called expert systems, their characteristics and their scope is given.
