Abstract:
The ever-expanding possibilities of automation and robotics are creating all the conditions to increase productivity and competitiveness in the livestock sector. This chapter presents specialized robotic systems used in modern livestock facilities that automate important tasks that are cumbersome, undesirable, or economically unviable when performed by one or more humans. In particular, feed distribution robots, waste removal robots, milking robots and robots that collect information about animal health and welfare are presented. Finally, a special category of robots for the meat industry is presented.
