Description:
Abstract:
This chapter presents the short history of US architectural periodicals throughout the 20th century in juxtaposition with the historical development of the architectural profession and the conflicting introduction of the modernist movement in the American context. In this context, the story of modernism was strained between a need for functional and economic design solutions, and the pluralistic forms fitting to the desires of the postwar affluent society.
