Description:
Abstract:
The chapter’s theme is of fundamental importance in urban design. The chapter introduces the intermediate scale of urban space and its typo-morphological approach, and identifies the five main physical elements that make up the urban tissue form: the road, the urban block, the plot, the building and open space. The form of urban fragments, the composition of urban tissues and the formation of urban layouts are analyzed. The types of built-up and open space are identified. Finally, the specificities of the physical form of the urban fragments in the Greek city are examined.
