It presents the fundamental research approaches of urban form and the parameters that determine the form of urban wholes (natural factors, human intervention and built environment). It analyzes the processes of the genealogy of the complex mosaic of urban tissues. The dominant urban patterns are identified: the organic, the planned and the monumental pattern.
