In this chapter, the chain polymerization is presented in detail. The characteristics of the reaction mechanism, the types of monomers polymerized by this mechanism and the initiators used are presented. Finally, elements of the kinetics of the reaction, how to calculate the theoretical molecular weight of the polymer and the effect of diffusion phenomena on the reaction are given.
