Description:
Abstract:
Weaning from mechanical ventilation is a key step in intensive care. Weaning is included in the whole process of gradual release and release of the patient from the mechanical support of breathing, and finally, their release from the endotracheal tube. During the weaning process, multiple issues can arise, such as choosing the appropriate ventilation model to avoid ventilator asymmetry/asynchrony and choosing the most appropriate moment of withdrawal of sedation and extubation. This chapter includes recommendations and guidelines for weaning from mechanical ventilation. These recommendations have been studied and approved by world-class societies, such as the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), the American Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and the French Society of Resuscitation (Société de Reanimation de Langue Francaise – SRLF).
