Abstract:
This chapter discusses the most common and widely accepted therapeutic strategies to improve oxygenation during mechanical ventilation. These include the use of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), the use of alveolar recruitment manipulations, placing the patient in a prone position, the use of sedation, analgesia, muscle paralysis, and physiotherapy.
