Physical Sedimentology - classification of terrestrial clastic sediments and sedimentary rocks
Authors: Drinia, Hara
Avramidis, Pavlos
Description:
Abstract:
The chapter covers the classification of terrigenous clastic sediments, explores the techniques for constructing particle size distributions, and discusses the application of fundamental concepts of descriptive statistics in particle size analysis. It, also, examines the processing and evaluation of statistical parameters deriving from particle size curves. Additionally, the chapter refers to the fundamental morphometric and histological characteristics of sediments and sedimentary rocks, including shape, roundness, grain sphericity, surface relief, cohesiveness, grain orientation, and the processes and modes of grain transport.
