Description:
Abstract:
The aim of the proposed e-book, which is adapted to the educational needs of undergraduate students, is to highlight spatial planning issues, with an emphasis on the following thematic sections: Theoretical, conceptual and methodological issues related to the principal approaches for the development and planning of the ex-urban, mainly space, are examined. Emphasis is placed on the role of Geography in spatial planning. Next, a brief historical review of the main periods is presented and the institutional arrangements and organizational structures that determined spatial planning in Greece are developed. Planning is examined as a process of regulating spatial issues and the practice of spatial planning in Greece is analyzed. The analysis is developed at national, regional and local level. Finally, the section presents Maritime Spatial Planning, as the new dimension, that must be registered in the spatial planning system, and investigates the way in which it will be integrated into the spatial planning system, as it is organized. The planning of special cases, which are a result of the "particular" geography of our country, and concern the coastal zones, islands and the mountainous areas, as well as issues of planning and management of the landscape, are examined.
