Abstract: |
This book is the first interdisciplinary writing attempt that not only aims to provide a theoretical framework for the major issue of crisis and disaster management but also to present specific examples and case studies from the contemporary international reality.
It covers, in an interdisciplinary manner, a wide range of relevant topics in light of the long experience and in-depth knowledge of renowned authors from a variety of disciplines. The recent common experience of the pandemic has amply demonstrated that the global community is faced with unknown or difficult-to-manage situations that directly attack the health of the general population: the health threat of COVID-19 was the most representative case of a crisis at multiple levels, the management of which required emergency and coordinated measures to deal with incidents, combining actions at a medical and a political level. Of course, such unforeseen catastrophic events include not only pandemics but also man-made disasters (such as terrorism, industrial accidents, wars, etc.) and natural phenomena (e.g., earthquakes, fires, volcanic eruptions, etc.).
