Abstract: |
The "Handbook for the family’s health assessment in home health care nursing" is an academic course book which aims to equip the nurse with the available tools for family’s health assessment and to increase their understanding on the use in order to be able to be utilized in the daily clinical practice.
This handbook specializes in knowledge related to family health assessment and utilizes the prerequisite knowledge, skills and abilities of the nurse in "Community nursing" and "Home health care nursing".
The handbook consists of ten chapters. The first three chapters attempt to clarify basic concepts of family and family nursing, to introduce the reader to the practice of home health care in which family’s health assessment is very often but not exclusively performed, and to connect theoretical knowledge with clinical practice.
Chapters four to seven describe assessing the family’s health, utilizing specific tools such as the nursing process, the Friedman family assessment model, the Calgary model for family assessment and intervention, and the meeting and interview with the family.
