Abstract:
This chapter discusses the parameters of intraabdominal pressure in patients of Intensive Care Unit, the definitions of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome, the risk factors for the occurrence of these and the intraabdominal pressure measurement methods in clinical practice. Also reported the effects of increased intra-abdominal pressure to the functional systems of the body and finally the prevention and treatment of abdominal compartment syndrome.To understand this chapter is necessary to know pathological physiology elements of the functional systems of the body and mechanical ventilation elements. Also, it is necessary to know information related to invasive methods of measuring and recording the pressure.
